Powerful screening of 3 fractions in a single operation The new FLEXSTAR 3000 star-type screen was designed for the purpose of screening biomass, compost, pre-crushed old wood, bark mulch and wood chips into three fractions in just one operation, and then discharging it separately. The FLEXSTAR 3000 really comes into its own when conventional screening technology reaches its limits. Damp and sticky bulk materials that tend to quickly stick to screen bases are screened out efficiently and economically. A material discharge belt height of around 3.80 m allows a large storage capacity under the screen, and consequently optimized wheel loader operation also. The FLEXSTAR 3000 is assembled on a chassis with an 80 km/h road license, a standard pneumatic system and ABS, and is driven by a powerful 75 KW (102 HP) 4-cylinder Perkins Diesel engine. This produces its maximum torque at 1,600 rpm and complies with the current emissions regulations. At the same time, the low consumption values and a large 150l Diesel tank guarantee long periods of uninterrupted operation. The compact size of just 10.30 m provides the required mobility and optimum operation even where space is at a premium. The large infeed hopper guarantees even loading and thereby high throughout of up to 160 cbm per hour combined with exact material separation. The core of the screening system is the screen decks developed by J. Willibald GmbH with finger metal bars on flexible shafts. The modular design allows the screen to be used as a 2-fraction screen or a 3-fraction screen. The changeover is hydraulic and is performed easily and quickly via the remote control. But also due to the increased population of birds near airports. TAKING AWAY THE FOOD SOURCE: AN EFFECTIVE SOLUTION What do you do when you want to banish something or someone from an area? You take away the first necessity of life: food! So in this case too, the most effective and logical solution to ban the birds seems to be taking away their food source. After all: no food, no reason to stay! And the number one food source for birds near airports hides in the substantial areas of grass. Insects, reptiles and small rodents thrive in these grass areas, making them an attractive area for (predatory) birds. These systems have proven to be durable and somewhat effective in keeping coolers clean and machines running efficiently, but only somewhat. The reversing of the fan rotation does reverse the flow of air through the core, but at only a fraction of the efficiency with which the fan cools. The net result is a severe reduction in cooling performance during the relatively long cleaning cycle. The hydraulic drive system is effective to allow for fan reversal but also comes with a compounding factor of inefficient cleaning and hydraulic system losses. These are the compromises once the machine is in the customer’s hands; there are many more that affect the entire manufacturing process. First is cost; hydraulic drive systems are very reliable, but the combination of pumps/motors/hoses/adapters soon adds up in product costs. Second is part count; the typical hydraulic fan drive system can introduce up to 5x more parts to the fan drive alone. These additional components require sourcing, logistics for delivery, floor-space within the manufacturing organization, and labor to assemble. Third is complexity; with each component added the fan drive system, another line is added to the FMEA (not including control strategy programming!). Revolutionary Design for Optimal Cooling Efficiency A unique solution is available to address these considerations; the Cleanfix® fan. The Cleanfix® fan is not a reversing fan; it is an engine mounted, belt driven fan that fully reverses the blade direction on command while the fan continues to spin in the same direction. This allows for the air flow to reverse direction (at any engine speed or power level) and produce the same pressure and flow characteristics for cleaning the coolers as was designed for cooling. This same technology can be applied to vary the attack angle of the blades, matching fan power to the cooling requirements. This operating principle also brings advantages over the most advanced viscous clutch fan drives as well. It begins with the DAF Paccar engine which already produces a sturdy 465 HP at only 1400RPM. Trommels are perfect for screening a wide range of materials and they are the first choice for wet and sticky organic substances including. Soil Sand Mulch Wood pellets/chips Compost Domestic waste How does a trommel work? Load hopper Mixed material is fed into the hopper. The hopper is attached to a conveyer that slowly moves the material into the top of the trommel drum. The speed that the hopper feeds material is important for the separation of fines. Adding material quickly into the drum might seem like the swiftest way to process it, but each trommel has a loading capacity. This is the maximum amount of material that can be in the drum at any one time - normally 40% of its width. If the drum is overfilled, there won’t be enough time for the valuable fines to be separated and they will be deposited alongside the larger materials. This means that the whole batch would need to be reprocessed. The speed of the feed hopper can be controlled on many machines. Trommel screening The hopper moves the mixed material into the top of the drum. As it is tumbled around, air is mixed in helping to dry any wet or sticky material - this improves separation. The dragging and dropping motion that is created by material being pulled up the side of the drum helps break up large lumps and allows the fines to pass through the mesh. If the trommel drum is not spinning fast enough, the material will sit on the bottom and form large clumps. This is caused by stones collecting wet materials and “balling” them together. Screened material is passed onto a lower conveyor which carries the fines away to a separate stockpile. Sieving vs drag and drop screening. Trommels are normally used at a 5 degree angle but this can be changed depending on the type and wetness of the material. If you were screening dry sand, you could have the trommel at a steeper angle - increasing the speed of the material as it passes through. Dry materials need less screening time as most of the fines can be removed near the top of the drum even at greater angles. What size trommel screen should I choose? Trommels come in a range of sizes from small, portable, compact screeners to large, tracked trommels. These large trommels are able to screen and separate 3 or 4 different sized materials as they have different mesh sizes along the length of the drum. A machine which was capable of topping, lifting, cleaning and transporting the beet simultaneously. In the 30 years since, almost all competitors have followed in our footsteps. In 200, to stay ahead of the competition, and to keep sugar beet lifting profitable into the future, Vervaet introduced the "Beet Eater", the first 9-row tanker sugar beet harvester in the world. Capacity has proven to be at least 50% more then the conventional 6-row machines. It is possible to harvest up to 3 Ha (7.5 acre) per hour. After the leaf is cut of by the flails, an auger transports the leaf to the right hand side, where it is dropped onto and spread by a disc-type leaf spreader. The leaf spreader has been increased by about 35%, to handle the extra leaves. Adjusting the scalpers from 18 to 20 inch row-width is done hydraulic. 925 Lifter Lifter 3x3 is 9… Obviously, the lifter needs to fold-up for road transport too. This one folds up in 3 parts (3 x 3 rows) This lifter can bend down a little more then horizontal,so when the land is not flat, it can still maintain a shallow lifting depth. Each side of the lifter has it's own depth control,as well as the middle section,which has a left and right depth control, like the conventional 6-rows. Both side-sections are also provided with an automatic row finder. They can move left and right for about 15 cm (6 inches) on top of the 8 cm which each element could move already, solving the problem of beet being drilled with 6 or 12 row drills. It is even possible to lift only 6 rows, simply by lifting up the right hand side section. The shares are driven separately, by hydraulic motors, instead of v-belts. Behind the lifting shares are 3 turbines (1,35 meter on the sides and 1,85 meter in the middle) Due to the ideal turbine configuration, the beet flow is just perfect and the length of topper + lifter are nearly the same as the 6-row 17-Tonner. Hydraulic 45-50 cm (18-20 inch) row-width adjustment from the cab is optional. Other row widths are possible on request. 925 Tank Tank The ring elevator also been extended. The width is now 90 cm instead of 80 and the depth of the baskets has also increased, thus giving 50% more capacity. Tank capacity is 25 tonnes.The discharge elevator is situated behind the front wheels making it possible to lower the tank floor about 30 cm compared to other systems, effectively lowering the centre of gravity. The discharge elevator is 1,70 m wide and unloads the entire tank in approximately 40 seconds. 925 Cleaning Cleaning When we want to lift 9 rows at the same speed as a six row machine,we need to have bigger and additional turbines accordingly.That is why we have 5 big turbines behind the 3 of the lifting unit. The gates around the turbines are adjustable from the cab, and mounted in rubber silent-blocs for beet-friendly treatment,and less maintenance. Needless to say, that all the speeds of the turbines are adjustable from the cab as well. Drive This is something special: Because of the working width of 4,5 meter, we can use the same area to drive on. We accomplished this by extending the front wheels each by 50 cm. Consequently, the machine drives one wheel per track. Also, the stability of the machine is greatly improved with the wide front axle. For those who don't favour full land coverage; it is also possible to lift with the front axle kept narrow, leaving about 1 meter of ground untouched. All 4 front wheels are mounted on hydraulic cylinders,which are coupled so their weight is spread 50-50. Also it makes the wheels follow the surface perfectly. It is possible to lift the machine up 10 cm should the machine get stuck ,or lower it 10 cm for low bridges etc. All 6 wheels are driven and steered ,which gives a short turning circle of only 8 meter, despite of its size. The new Michelin radial tyres are 800-70 x 38 and have a 2.10 m. diameter.
